The exhibit preview will feature 15 AAAS IF/THEN® Ambassadors. The full #IfThenSheCan exhibit will showcase 122 women professionals in STEM (who are AAAS IF/THEN® Ambassadors) that will be immortalized as statues to combat stereotypes and gender bias by highlighting women as science experts. IF/THEN was founded on the belief that “IF we support a woman in STEM\, THEN she can change the world.” It is a transformational initiative created and funded by Dallas-based Lyda Hill Philanthropies. Dedicated to closing the gender gap in STEM careers and inspiring the next generation of women innovators and pioneers\, IF/THEN aims to activate a culture shift among young girls by providing them with women STEM role models.

AAAS IF/THEN® Ambassadors represent a unique group of women who have demonstrated exceptional “staying power” in STEM fields. At the National Diversity in STEM Virtual Conference (2020 SACNAS)\, Dr. Gamble-George along with four other AAAS IF/THEN® Ambassadors will host on Friday\, October 23rd at 1:30 PM PT/4:30 PM ET a live workshop on self-advocacy for women in STEM. Dr. Gamble-George will be chairing this workshop\, which is entitled\, “Staying Power Tips from AAAS IF/THEN® Ambassadors: Empowerment through Self-Advocacy for Women in STEM.” \nThe workshop will encourage open dialogue among participants\, who represent the next generation of women in STEM\, and AAAS IF/THEN® Ambassadors on “staying power” in the STEM workforce and academia and empower participants to become advocates for themselves throughout their STEM career paths. DESCRIPTION:Dr. Gamble-George will be presenting on the “Innovation Stage” at the Ai4 2020 meeting that will be held digitally from August 18th to August 20th. Over three days\, Ai4 2020 will bring together business leaders and data practitioners to facilitate the adoption of artificial intelligence and machine learning technology. Dr. Gamble-George’s presentation at Ai4 2020 will focus on how AI-driven predictive analytics can be used to predict life-threatening events as a result of heart disease\, such as a heart attack or a stroke. She plans to emphasize that heart disease management is effective and efficient when it involves big data analytics that can be used to monitor\, predict\, prevent\, manage\, and treat heart disease. She will also discuss how SciX\, the IoT biotech company that Dr. Gamble-George co-founded\, is creating a new health information technology\, a wearable device software application that can monitor and respond to the care of people with heart disease using artificial intelligence-driven predictive analytics.

SUMMARY:Brite Virtual Summer Camp Program
DESCRIPTION:Brite is a bold\, interdisciplinary program built especially for girls ages 13-16 beginning on July 13th\, 2020 that was created by a first-of-its-kind collaboration between the World Science Foundation (WSF)\, the National Girls Collaborative Project (NGCP)\, and The Hello Studios. It consists of three new courses that explore unique topics\, such as the intersection of art and science\, the strategies of women working with dangerous creatures\, and the challenges of conducting experiments on the human brain. Each week features keynote speakers from cutting-edge fields with careers as diverse as working at YouTube\, the National Forestry Service\, and the nation’s top universities. \nDr. Gamble-George will serve as a panelist the week of July 27th at the Brite Virtual Summer Camp\, providing a snippet of her lab work as a neuroscientist\, and having the Brite girls serve as a “neuroscientist for the day.” Brite girls will also learn about mindfulness and neuroscience research from Dr. Gamble-George (also known as Dr. Joy to the Brite girls).
