DESCRIPTION:The International Museum of Surgical Science (IMSS) will be featuring Dr. Gamble-George in a “new\,” permanent exhibit called “Rx For Success” along with other STEM professionals in Chicago\, Illinois\, USA. This new exhibit is made possible in part by a #GenderEquityGrant from the Association of Science and Technology Centers (ASTC)\, a professional membership organization with a vision of increased understanding of—and engagement with—science and technology among all people and a mission to champion and support science and technology centers and museums\, and the IF/THEN® Initiative\, a national effort sponsored by Lyda Hill Philanthropies® to inspire young girls to pursue STEM careers while creating a culture shift in how the world perceives women in STEM. DESCRIPTION:A life-size 3D printed statue of Dr. Gamble-George is being featured in the #IfThenSheCan exhibit in Dallas’ NorthPark Center from May 15\, 2021 – October 2021. The #IfThenSheCan exhibit will showcase more than 120 women professionals in STEM (who are AAAS IF/THEN® Ambassadors) that will be immortalized as statues to combat stereotypes and gender bias by highlighting women as science experts. IF/THEN was founded on the belief that “IF we support a woman in STEM\, THEN she can change the world.” It is a transformational initiative created and funded by Dallas-based Lyda Hill Philanthropies. Dedicated to closing the gender gap in STEM careers and inspiring the next generation of women innovators and pioneers\, IF/THEN aims to activate a culture shift among young girls by providing them with women STEM role models.

Her talk is entitled\, “Understanding the Brain from Cells to Behavior in Neurodegenerative Diseases and Anxiety Disorders.” She will provide a general overview of her research on Alzheimer’s disease pathology\, substance abuse\, anxiety and stress-related disorders\, neurotoxicity\, HIV\, and therapeutics. The event is sponsored and hosted by Simply Neuroscience\, an international\, student-led nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering students’ interdisciplinary interests in the brain\, specifically through neuroscience and psychology education\, outreach\, and awareness. Simply Neuroscience aims to empower youth to engage in brain-related fields through projects and initiatives on local through global scales.
