Twenty-four new Girl Scout badges have been designed to help girls become the leaders that our rapidly changing world needs. Dr. Gamble-George’s AAAS IF/THEN Ambassador profile has been included in the “new” STEM Career Exploration badges that the Girl Scouts of the USA launched at the end of this month. It is featured along with other AAAS IF/THEN Ambassador profiles that focus on the field of health and wellness. The field of health and wellness concerns helping people. Medical professionals specialize in all different things, like treating patients (children, adults, or the elderly); studying a disease, such as cancer or diabetes; or becoming an expert on a part of the body, like the heart (cardiology) or brain (neurology).

By exploring the “new” STEM Career Exploration badges and participating in the Junior STEM Career Exploration Badge Activity, girls in Grades 4-5 (Juniors) can find out how a career in STEM can help them make the world a better place. They will get the chance to complete a challenge and discover jobs in six different fields of STEM, including the field Dr. Gamble-George works in, which is “health and wellness” since she “studies diseases” at the National Institutes of Health.

Dr. Gamble-George

I love to empower people to become thought leaders and STEAM/STEMM innovators. I served as an expert science advisor for scientists that study chronic heart and lung diseases, HIV, and mental health. I also co-founded a biotech IoT application and device development company. As a scientist, I conduct research related to brain diseases and disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease, anxiety and stress-related disorders, and substance use disorders.
